Last night, we began recording our upcoming album The Morning Came To Me with producer, Chad Bamford. But more importantly John came to the session with a throwback haircut from the korean pride 1990s.

This past weekend at Young Nak’s Journey retreat, I’ve received healing in my left hand. Right above my risk on the back of my hand, I have some nerve pain that kept bothering me when I lifted things. Thank God it didn’t affect my drumming. The guest speaker, Pastor Joe was talking to Mike, and Mike told me that he was super charismatic (healing, prophesy, yada yada yada). I asked him to pray for my hand. I tried doing the lifting motion with the stage, and pain came through my hand. We prayed one more time, and this time, my nerve pain disappeared! It’s been a week, and the pain is still gone. Praise God. Just wanted to share it with you all.

I’m excited for what is going to happen in the next month or two. We’re going to go in for finishing our second record. This time around, I plan on being more detailed with my drumming. Especially on the production side. Usually, I let the producer/mixer/engineer do whatever they want to do. I usually focus on how my drums sound before it hits the boards. This time around, I’m going to try out different things. And they’ll all be listed in our liner notes.

Also, for the past couple of months, our buddy, Tae Kim, has filmed and editted the videos that you see on youtube. So we personally would like to give a big shout out for that. With minimal gear, he’s allowed to do whatever he wants, and I think he’s done a good job.

Just can’t wait til we get in the studio. But before I get in there, I need to tighten up my parts. Must be over prepared. -johnCHONG

we finished up our final pre-production session with chad today.
we begin tracking mid-january.

i can’t wait for you to hear our newest song “Let Love”
it is my humble attempt at preparing the way of the Kingdom of God via lyric and song. here is a sample lyric from the first verse:

“let the lion roar, let the fire grow / this is not a revival, it’s the kingdom of God, and it’s coming / and it’s not held down by the walls of a church / it spreads over all, it covers the earth / where the orphans are fed / and religion is dead / and the people of God stand up and instead / of marketing church / start preaching the word / with boldness and love / back up by the works / of a spirit who is jealous for the revelation of the beauty of Christ / let the bride come alive”

musically, it’s got this funky uptempo motown-ish groove. it’s going to be pure gold. john goes nuts on this song. so does gilbert. oh and so does kevin and descry. and i’m rapping on every possible 16th note on each verse. our producer loved it from the moment he heard it. we will most likely open the record with this track. you have to hear it. i’m telling you.

Today, we’re playing at the AT&T Center for the Pan Pacific Film Festival.

We’re doing an early set, and then a later set as well.

The early set will contain some new songs, so come on out! 12noon is our first set time.

And then in the evening on the main stage, we’re playing one song.

I love that we have an abundance of songs for our upcoming album.

Pick and choose.

On Break of Dawn, we put everything we had on it, which forced us to put up songs that we felt weren’t as strong as others.

For this upcoming album, we’re going to have to pick the best ones. The ones that fit with eachother.

We’re playing a show at a new underground venue in hollywood. The venue is called Amplyfi. So underground, that it has no signs.

We’re playing thurs, sept 29th at 9pm.

Good news: It’s not a church, but an actual venue. It’s pretty intimate. If you never came to our shows because the venue is a church, now’s your chance to see us!

Better news: we’re playing 67% new songs in our set! So if you’ve been coming out to a lot of our shows, expect something new and fresh! Most of the songs we’re going to play are 90% finished, so you’re going to witness some evolution from now til our album release!
